The Australian Institute of Company Directors has now extended its range of services to better support whole-of-board and business governance.

    Foundations of Directorship program

The Foundations of Directorship program will help you build a solid foundation for the start of your directorship journey. The program consists of three one-day courses that encompass the essential duties and responsibilities of directors:

    • Governance for Directors will examine the duties and responsibilities of directors and the board, and upon completion you will understand the key principles and foundations of governance.
    • Finance for Directors will provide you with the skills to interpret and assess the financial statements that drive board decisions.
    • Strategy and Risk for Directors will explore the director’s role in identifying, formulating and monitoring an organisation’s strategy and risk appetite.

Each is led by experienced facilitators who create an interactive and unique learning environment. Courses can be taken as a set or standalone, giving you the flexibility to finish in a timeframe that suits you. You will have completed the Foundations of Directorship  program when you have undertaken all three courses. The Foundations of Directorship Certificate will be awarded after successful completion of the online assessments.

2016 NFP Governance and Performance Study

The not-for-profit (NFP) sector is not only the Australian Institute of Company Directors’ (AICD) fastest-growing sector, but is critical to our society as well. In the current context of rapid change within the sector, governance has never been a more important issue for NFPs.

The AICD is conducting the seventh annual NFP Governance and Performance Study , which is the largest and longest-running NFP governance study in Australia.

As in previous years, the survey aims to examine governance practices and the opportunities and challenges Australian NFPs face, with a special focus on financial sustainability. This topped the list of concerns for NFPs in the 2015 survey, followed by mergers, collaboration and relationships with government as key areas of importance.

Responses from non-executive directors and senior executives reporting to boards of NFPs are welcome.

    2016 Remuneration Survey

Keep an eye out for the AICD’s 2016 Australian Board Remuneration Survey opening next month.

The survey is open to Australia’s non-executive directors across listed companies, private enterprise and the not-for-profit sector. Remuneration data for directors of government entities is publicly available via relevant government agencies.

By completing the survey and encouraging your peers to do the same, you will contribute directly to a high-quality and comprehensive dataset on remuneration.

The results will provide much needed insights into the remuneration trends of Australian boards and directors.

Our members will receive complimentary access to survey results as they apply to your industry, sector and role type.

Discover trends, benchmark pay and evaluate how your remuneration compares with that of your peers.
