1. Introduction and Agreement
By submitting your application for the Not-for-Profit Scholarship Program 2025 (the Scholarship), you agree and accept:
1.1 these Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Scholarship Terms (Scholarship Terms) and
1.2 the AICD Public Course Terms and Conditions, which apply to enrolment and participation in all AICD Public Courses, with a copy available at https://www.aicd.com.au/about-aicd/terms-conditions.html
1.3 the AICD Privacy Policy available at https://www.aicd.com.au/about-aicd/terms-conditions/privacy-policy.html.
2. Scholarship Details
2.1 The AICD reserves the right to substitute or vary any aspect of the Scholarship at its discretion.
2.2 The Scholarship is not transferable to another person or exchangeable for other AICD products or services and cannot be redeemed for cash nor with any other Scholarship or offer provided by the AICD.
3. Valid Applications and Eligibility
3.1 The requirements for making a Valid Application are set out in Schedule 1.
3.2 The Eligibility Criteria is set out at Schedule 2.
3.3 AICD may refuse any application without further consideration if it is not validly made or does not meet the Eligibility Criteria.
4. Application Submission
4.1 Applications must be complete and received by the time stated in the Scholarship information. Incomplete and late applications will not be assessed unless exceptional circumstances apply and subject to AICD’s discretion. Any questions about the Scholarship or applications, should be addressed to AICD well before the application closing date.
4.2 The applicant warrants all the information submitted in their application is true and correct to the best of their knowledge at the time of submission.
5. Selection Process
5.1 Applications will be reviewed in the state that it is received, by the AICD Scholarship selection committee (the Selection Committee). Members of the Selection Committee will refrain from assessing any applications where there is a conflict of interest.
5.2 Valid Applications will be reviewed and considered by the Selection Committee in accordance with the Eligibility and Selection Criteria at Schedule 2.
5.3 The Selection Committee may in its absolute discretion decide not to grant any Scholarship if it considers that there are no applicants or not enough applicants who satisfy the Eligibility and Selection Criteria.
5.4 The decision of the Selection Committee is final, and Scholarships will be granted only after the AICD has verified and is satisfied with the Scholarship application.
6. Outcome
6.1 Successful applicants (the Recipient) will be notified via email within five (5) weeks after the closing date or any other such timeframe the Selection Committee advises.
6.2 The Recipient must:
- (a) comply with any AICD policies and procedures applicable and as issued by the AICD from time to time;
- (b) satisfy themselves of any tax or visa consequences; and
- (c) comply with any additional requirements as described in the Scholarship offer.
6.3 The Recipient agrees to the AICD contacting them (for AICD’s reporting and evaluation purposes) for a period up to 18 months from the date of the completion of any course or program they complete under the Scholarship.
7. Additional policies and other terms
7.1 The Recipient may be asked to agree to and accept additional terms and policies that are relevant to the any specific Course, they are offered. The AICD may substitute, vary, or withdraw the Scholarship offered, at its discretion if the Recipient is unable or unwilling to agree to the any relevant additional terms and policies.
8. Course Changes, Cancellations and Transfers for Scholarship Recipients
8.1 AICD may amend dates, times, delivery format or location of Courses offered under the Scholarship. If the Recipient is affected by AICD changes, then the Recipient will be notified by email or SMS prior to the Course Commencement Date.
8.2 If the Recipient wishes to change, cancel, or transfer their enrolment in an AICD Course awarded under the Scholarship, then:
- (a) Change, cancellation or transfer requests prior to the Course Cut-Off Date, is permitted.
- (b) Change, cancellation or transfer requests after the Course Cut-Off Date, will be at AICD’s discretion.
8.3 Recipients of a Scholarship is entitled to only one change or transfer of a Course, during the 12 months following Scholarship award.
8.4 The Scholarship is forfeited if the Recipient does not attend the Course on the set advised date unless Exceptional Circumstances apply (the consideration of which is solely at AICD’s discretion).
8.5 Clause 8 of these Scholarship Terms supersedes the Course Changes, Cancellations and Transfers terms found in the Public Course Terms & Conditions.
9. Breach
9.1 If a Recipient fails to comply, wholly or in part, with any of the applicable policies and terms, or if any information submitted is found to be untrue or incorrect the AICD may at its discretion vary or terminate the Scholarship.
9.2 If the AICD terminates the Scholarship for a Recipient, any membership for that period will also be cancelled (if applicable).
10. General
10.1 These Scholarship Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales and the parties irrevocably submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that State.
Schedule 1 - Valid Application
1.1 A Valid Application means an application where the applicant has filled out all the mandatory fields in the application form provided in a manner that answers the relevant question. For the avoidance of doubt, mandatory fields are fields marked with an asterisk and / or fields not marked “(optional)”); and
1.2 AICD may decide to refuse any application without further consideration if it is not a Valid Application.
Schedule 2 –Eligibility and Selection Criteria
This schedule defines the eligibility and selection criteria for the Scholarship.
2.1 Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Scholarship you must:
- Be a current or aspiring director, or leader of a small to medium not-for-profit organisation with an annual income of less than AU$3 Million. (If you are not sure what your organisation’s annual turnover is, consult https://www.acnc.gov.au or https://abr.business.gov.au)
- Be 18 years old or over.
- Be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident.
- Not have been disqualified from being a director of a corporation or organisation, in accordance with ASIC’s Banned and Disqualified register.
- Not be a 'Graduate' of AICD’s Foundations of Directorship, Company Directors Course or Boardroom Mastery. Graduates of these courses are considered over-qualified to undertake this program. A ‘Graduate’ in this context means an individual learner who has attended the full AICD course, attempted and passed all assessment tasks, and been awarded the course certificate (and post-nominals, if applicable).
AICD may decide to refuse any application without further consideration if does not meet the Eligibility Criteria.
2.2 Selection Criteria
The Application will be assessed based on the following criteria:
- Initial checks will be carried out based on the Eligibility Criteria above. If the application does not meet the Eligibility Criteria, the application will not be assessed.
- All applications will be assessed and evaluated by an independent panel of assessors.
- The application should clearly show:
- a) The applicant’s suitability to the course offered in the Scholarship.
- b) The applicant’s dedication to succeed in the scholarship program.
- c) The applicant meets the Eligibility Criteria; and
- d) The applicant intends to use the learnings from the Scholarship program within their community.
