1. Introduction and Agreement
The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Scholarship Program includes the scholarship programs listed on the AICD website at Scholarships.
By submitting an application for a scholarship under the AICD Scholarship Program (the Scholarship), you agree and accept:
1.1 these AICD Scholarship Terms
1.2 the AICD Public Course Terms and Conditions, which apply to enrolment and participation in all AICD Public Courses
1.3 the Participant Code of Conduct
1.4 the Events policy
1.5 the AICD Privacy Policy
2. Scholarship Details
2.1 The AICD reserves the right to substitute or vary any aspect of the scholarship program or the Scholarship at its discretion. The Scholarship Terms, Public Course Terms and the policies listed above may also be amended or replaced by the AICD from time to time.
2.2 The Scholarship is not transferable to another person or exchangeable for other AICD products or services and cannot be redeemed for cash nor for any other scholarship or offer provided by the AICD.
3. Valid Applications and Eligibility
3.1 Your application for a scholarship must be made through the AICD Scholarship application portal accessible at the Application Portal.
3.2 Application requirements, eligibility criteria and selection criteria for each scholarship program are set out on the Application Portal. To be eligible for a scholarship you must meet the specific eligibility criteria published for that scholarship program and you must also:
(a) be aged 18 years old or over,
(b) be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident,
(c) never have been disqualified from being a director of a corporation or organisation,
(d) agree to the Scholarship timings and commitments including course attendance, and (e) meet the pre-requisites required for your preferred course/program.
3.3 Only Valid Applications will be reviewed and considered. A Valid Application means that you have:
(a) filled out all of the mandatory fields in the application form in a manner that answers the questions (mandatory fields are fields marked with an asterisk and / or fields not marked“(optional)”); and
(b) included all mandatory supporting documents (if required, information about the required documents is included in the promotional material for the particular scholarship program).
3.4 Your application should clearly show:\
(a) your eligibility and suitability to the scholarship program that you have selected,
(b) your dedication to succeed in that scholarship program, and
(c) how you intend to use the learnings from the scholarship program within your community.
4. Application Submission
4.1 Applications must be complete and submitted to the Application Portal by the stated closing time. Applications will be considered in the state that in which they are received, and no changes or additional information can be submitted after the closing time. You are responsible for ensuring that you have sufficient time to complete the application process before the closing time. Questions about a scholarship or applications should be addressed to the AICD well before the application closing time.
4.2 All applications that are late, not Valid Applications or that do not meet the eligibility or the selection criteria will be exclude from further assessment. However, the AICD may, in its absolute discretion, elect to consider a late or incomplete application if you can demonstrate that Exceptional Circumstances apply (as defined in our Public Course Terms).
5. Selection Process
5.1 The AICD will appoint a panel of Scholarship Assessors for each Scholarship Program from its database of approved Scholarship Assessors (the Assessment Panel). Members of the Assessment Panel will be excluded from assessing applications where they have or may have a conflict of interest.
5.2 Valid Applications from eligible applicants will be assessed and scored against the selection criteria by the Assessment Panel during an assessment period of 4 weeks. At the completion of the assessment period, applications that satisfy the eligibility and selection criteria will be presented to a Selection Committee made up of the AICD program team and partner/funder representatives (if appropriate) for final selection.
5.3 The Selection Committee may, in its absolute discretion, decide not to grant any scholarships under an AICD scholarship program if there are no applications or if the Selection Committee determines that there are insufficient applications that satisfy the eligibility and selection criteria for that program.
5.4 The decision of the Selection Committee is final and no review or discussion will be entered into with any applicants.
6. Outcome
If your application is successful you (the Scholar):
6.1 Will be notified via email within five (5) weeks after the closing date or any other such timeframe the Selection Committee advises.
6.2 Must:
(a) Comply with all applicable AICD policies and procedures as may be updated by the AICD from time to time;
(b) Satisfy yourself of any tax or visa consequences; and
(c) Comply with any additional requirements as described in the Scholarship offer.
6.3 Agree to the AICD contacting you (for the AICD’s reporting and evaluation purposes) for a period up to 18 months from the date of the completion of any course or program you complete under the Scholarship.
7. Additional policies and other terms
7.1 You may be asked to agree to and accept additional terms and policies that are relevant to the specific AICD course event or program that you are offered. The AICD may substitute, vary, or withdraw the Scholarship offered, at its discretion if you are unable or unwilling to agree to the additional terms and policies.
8. Course Changes, Cancellations and Transfers for Scholarship Recipients
8.1 If you would like to change, cancel or transfer the course, event or program that you are enrolled in under your Scholarship and:
(a) The course you are enrolled in is an AICD public course, the Public Course Terms apply, except you are only permitted one change or transfer during the 12 months following the Scholarship award; or
(b) The course, event or program you are enrolled in is not an AICD public course, you should contact the AICD’s Scholarship team as soon as possible. A change or transfer may not be possible and is at the AICD’s discretion.
8.2 The Scholarship is forfeited if you do not attend the course, event or program on the advised date, unless Exceptional Circumstances apply (the consideration of which is solely at the AICD’s discretion).
8.3 The AICD may amend dates, times, delivery format or location of courses, events and programs offered under the Scholarship. If you are affected by the AICD changes, you will be notified in writing (email or SMS) prior to the course, event or program commencement date with details of alternative arrangements (as applicable).
9. Breach
9.1 The AICD may, at its discretion, vary or terminate your Scholarship:
(a) if you fail to comply, wholly or in part, with any of the applicable policies and terms (including these Scholarship Terms),
(b) if any information you submitted is found to be untrue or incorrect,
(c) if you withdraw from the Scholarship after it has started,
(d) if you don’t attend the set course date, and
(e) in other circumstances contemplated in the policies and terms referenced in these Scholarship Terms.
9.2 If the AICD terminates your Scholarship in these circumstances, any AICD membership or other benefits (as applicable) that you received as part of the Scholarship will also be cancelled.
10. General
10.1 These Scholarship Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales and the parties irrevocably submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that State.
