Today’s directors are increasingly dependent on information technology, not just for business as usual, but also for the ability to innovate and bring new products and ideas to the market.

    Cracking the technology code

The latest publication from the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), A Director’s Guide to Governing Information Technology and Cybersecurity is a readable guide designed for all directors on managing the risks and opportunities that present themselves in the modern digital landscape.

For directors who find themselves in a position where IT is underpinning a digital transformation of their organisation, or rapidly becoming a key driver of their business, this new publication offers practical, plain language guidance on how to implement sound governance and includes useful templates for your board IT and cybersecurity risk committees.

    AICD Sector Forums

Just as organisations face diverse challenges and opportunities, so too does each individual sector.

In November 2016, the AICD is launching an ASX Sector Forum and a Private Sector Forum, which will take a deep dive into the trends and topics specific to each sector.

Leading directors from each sector will discuss ideas that promote practical thinking and enhance director performance.

ASX Sector Forum speakers include Roger Corbett AO FAICD, who will discuss recent corporate governance failures and Sandra Hook GAICD, who will reflect on the impact of innovation and technology on business.

Guests at the Private Sector Forum will hear from speakers including Peter Fitzpatrick AM FAICD, who will draw on his distinguished military, government and private sector experience to discuss strategies to improve workforce engagement. Sandra Ragg, Assistant Secretary, Cyber Security, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet will address board management of business’s digital vulnerability.
