VLRC consultation on litigation funding and group proceedings

In this submission, the AICD supports the regulation of litigation funders through an appropriate form of nationally consistent regulatory oversight. The AICD believes the best way to achieve this outcome is through federal legislative oversight by an appropriate federal body. However, in the absence of federal regulation, the AICD recommends that consideration be given to the regulation of litigation funders through appropriate state supervisorial bodies, such as the Victorian Legal Services Board + Commission (VLSBC).
