On 2 May 2017 the AICD wrote to Tasmanian Acting Attorney-General, the Hon. Matthew Groom MP, about reforming legislation imposing personal criminal liability on directors for corporate criminal conduct.
In particular, the AICD expressed concerns about a number of provisions within Tasmanian statutes which reverse the burden of proof, essentially requiring directors to prove their innocence.
The AICD has subsequently met with the Tasmanian government in relation to this issue, and will continue to advocate for change to Tasmanian law.
