Australian Consumer Law Fundraising reform

The AICD provided a submission to Consumer Affairs Australia and New Zealand’s review into the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). This submission is limited to addressing the issue of the applicability of the ACL to charities and to not-for-profits. The review of the ACL provides the ideal opportunity to lay a foundation for a broader reform of fundraising regulation across Australia.


The review of the ACL provides the ideal opportunity to lay a foundation for a broader reform of fundraising regulation across Australia. Small changes to the ACL, accompanied by repeal of state-based fundraising laws, could achieve substantive law reform for the benefit of Australians and the NFP sector.
