The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) is very pleased to announce Ms Heather Chong FAICD as the winner of the 2022 Tasmanian Gold Medal Award.

The Gold Medal is awarded in recognition of Ms Chong’s extensive work in the business, community, philanthropic and not-for-profit sectors across Tasmania including many years serving as a Clarence City councillor and former deputy mayor.

Ms Chong has held board positions with listed companies, public sector business enterprises and various not-for-profit and community organisations - Rotary, Meals on Wheels and the Asthma Foundation among them.

Trained as an accountant in the UK, Ms Chong lived in Hong Kong and Singapore before settling in Tasmania where she established and operated a large commercial stone fruit orchard for many years.

Ms Chong is a Fellow of the AICD and as a long serving Rotarian has recently completed a term as District Governor for Tasmania, during which she organised a state wide call for Rotarians to help those experiencing homelessness.

Tasmania/Victoria State Manager Evan Dukas MAICD said Ms Chong has made an outstanding contribution to business, local government and community-based organisations over many years.

“This Gold Medal Award is fitting recognition of Heather’s extensive work as a non-executive director and for the deep commitment she has made to Tasmanian public life.”

Ms Chong thanked the AICD and said she was very honoured to receive this prestigious award.

The 2022 Tasmanian Gold Medal will be presented by AICD Managing Director and CEO Mark Rigotti at an awards luncheon being held in Hobart on November 10.
