The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) has announced changes to its National Board.
After six years, Michael Coleman FAICD, Kathy Gramp FAICD and Liesel Wett FAICD will be completing their terms on the board over the next couple of months.
This month, Arlene Tansey FAICD and Michael Schaper FAICD will be appointed to the board, replacing Mr Coleman as NSW Division Director and Ms Wett as ACT Division Director respectively.
In December, Julie Cooper FAICD will replace Ms Gramp as SA/NT Division Director.
AICD chair, John Atkin FAICD congratulated Ms Tansey, Dr Schaper and Ms Cooper on their appointments.
“Ms Tansey brings to the board 30 years’ experience as a senior executive in business, corporate and investment banking and financial services gained in Australia and the United States. She has extensive
experience as a non-executive director in both the public listed companies and government sectors which will add invaluable experience to our board.
“Dr Schaper spent ten years as the full-time Deputy Chairman of ACCC and brings with him extensive leadership and governance experience across business, start-ups, government, regulators and executive education. He has already made meaningful contributions to the AICD through his role as a member of our National Education Advisory Committee and as an ACT Divisional Councillor.
“Ms Cooper has been a SA/NT Divisional Councillor since April and has held senior corporate management and board-level roles. She has strong experience in the technology sector and with the start-up community and has worked all over the world including Australia, UK, Europe, Asia, Papua New Guinea, and the Middle East. More recently, she has advised the South Australian Government in connection with the establishment of Lot Fourteen, Adelaide’s technology research and innovation start-up precinct.”
Mr Atkin added, “I also want to acknowledge Michael Coleman, Kathy Gramp and Liesel Wett for their contributions to the AICD board and look forward to their continued support of the Institute.”
Biographies
Ms Arlene Tansey FAICD
Ms Tansey is currently a Non-Executive Director of TPG Telecom, WiseTech Global, Aristocrat Leisure Limited, Infrastructure NSW, and Lendlease Real Estate Investment Limited.
Her previous boards include Healius Limited, Adelaide Brighton Ltd and the Serco Asia-Pacific Advisory Board.
Dr Michael Schaper FAICD
Dr Schaper is chair of the federal government’s Shadow Economy Advisory Forum, and the self-regulatory body for Australia’s buy-now-pay-later fintech sector; he is also a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies and was previously the CEO of the Canberra Business Chamber. Prior to this, he served for ten years as the Deputy Chairman of the ACCC.
He has held key leadership roles including those of ACT Small Business Commissioner, Dean of Murdoch University Business School in Western Australia, Head of the School of Business at Bond University in Queensland, and chair of the ACT Minister’s Small & Micro-Business Advisory Council.
Ms Julie Cooper FAICD
Ms Cooper is a Non-Executive Director of Nova Systems, Credit Union SA, an AICD SA/NT Divisional Councillor a Director of Shearn & Co Pty Ltd and on the board of the Crows Foundation.
Previously, Ms Cooper was a Non-Executive Director at SmartSat CRC, Interim Global Group CEO of NOVA Group of Companies, State Project Lead for South Australia's Lot Fourteen development for the Chief Executive of SA's Department of the Premier and Cabinet, an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company and a senior executive at BAE Systems.
