The Australian Institute of Company Directors is calling on women working in the disability sector to apply for one of 10 new scholarships to complete the highly-regarded Company Directors Course.
Assisted by $70,000 in funding from the Australian Government, scholarship recipients will also receive a 12 month complimentary AICD membership giving them access to a range of governance opportunities and member benefits.
Applications for the Disability Sector Diversity Scholarships open on Friday June 30 2017 and close at 5pm Monday 17 July 2017.
The scholarships are open to women in all Australian states and territories who work in a non-commercial organisation in the disability sector.
AICD Chairman Elizabeth Proust AO said the Board Diversity Scholarship Program was one of a range of initiatives run by the AICD aimed at improving the gender diversity of Australian boards.
“Almost one in five Australians report living with a disability which means the disability services sector touches the lives of millions of the Australians,” she said.
“We know that diversity on boards leads to better governance outcomes, which is why we’re proud to be able to offer this scholarship to support women working in the disability sector.
“I welcome the support of the Australian Government for this program, which will give 10 Australian women the opportunity to access world-class governance education and in turn help their organisations assist the community.”

Applicants must be working in decision-making roles in service to the public in the disability sector. Successful applicants will be notified by email as soon as practical after the selection process is completed.
