Stephen Walters has been appointed to the new position of Chief Economist at the Australian Institute of Company Directors as it seeks to expand its contribution to policy debate and offer broader services to members.
“Stephen’s background as a leading economist will allow the AICD to offer its members greater insight into the issues that impact their decisions as directors. It will also give the AICD greater capacity to influence conversations about significant national and economic reform,” said John Brogden, the AICD’s managing director & chief executive officer.
“Many economic issues have a direct impact on boardroom decisions, including Australia’s fiscal position and need for national reforms to address it. The impact of China’s rapid transformation and globalisation generally are also of paramount importance,” Mr Walters said.
“It is imperative that the AICD participate in conversations about such issues and I look forward to speaking on its behalf,” Mr Walters said.
