Ramsay Health Care's appointment of female directors welcomed by AICD

Tuesday, 28 April 2015

The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) today welcomed the decision by Ramsay Health Care to appoint two female directors to its board.

The appointment of Patricia Akopiantz and Margaret Seale to Ramsay’s board means there is now only one company in the S&P/ASX50 Index with no female directors.

“This is a significant step in the drive towards gender diversity in the boardroom and we applaud the move by Ramsay Health Care to include women on its board for the first time,” said AICD’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer John Brogden.

“The AICD recently called on all S&P/ASX 200 boards to ensure that 30 per cent of their directors are female by the end of 2018. There is a clear business case for gender diversity and we encourage other companies to embark on a strategy that will achieve this goal,” Mr Brogden said.
