Introducing Mark Rigotti MAICD

AICD chair John Atkin FAICD welcomes new managing director and CEO Mark Rigotti.

The board of the Australian Institute of Company Directors has appointed Mark Rigotti MAICD as the organisation’s next MD and CEO. A former partner of Herbert Smith Freehills, where he held senior leadership roles, including global CEO 2014–20, Rigotti has been the chair of Redkite, a national children’s cancer charity, since 2021, having served on its board since 2010.

With a demonstrated capacity to lead major organisations through transformational change, Rigotti has very relevant experience as a non-executive director, particularly in the not-for-profit sector. His involvement with some of our key stakeholders including the Business Council of Australia, Australia Korea and European Australian Business Councils, and the University of Sydney will prove invaluable.

Rigotti is excited to join the AICD, to help it move forward from its position of strength and achieve our purpose of strengthening society through world-class governance. He is the right person to be leading the AICD in the next stage of its development and growth.

He will succeed current CEO Angus Armour FAICD, who announced last October that he would not be extending his five-year term.    

“I want to take this opportunity to thank Angus for his outstanding leadership of the institute,” said Rigotti. “The growth and performance of the AICD under Angus’ leadership has been tremendous.”

Rigotti will begin at the AICD in July as CEO designate, working with Armour, who will step down in September, to enable a smooth transition.
