Lucy Hughes Turnbull AO is an urbanist, businesswoman and philanthropist with a longstanding interest in cities, culture, technological and social innovation and Australian research and commercialisation.
Lucy was the inaugural Chief Commissioner of the Greater Sydney Commission (2015-2020), leading strategic planning for metropolitan Sydney and integrated land use, transport and infrastructure plans in collaboration with other state government departments and agencies, and local governments . In 2003-2004, Lucy made history as the first female Lord Mayor of the City of Sydney after serving as the City of Sydney’s first female Deputy Lord Mayor.
For many years she was Deputy and later Chair of the Committee for Sydney.
Her extensive leadership experience includes numerous board roles across the non-profit and private sectors.
She has served on the boards of several cultural institutions including the Sydney Opera House, the Art Gallery of NSW, the National Portrait Gallery, the MCA and the Australian Museum. She has also served on the boards of ASX listed companies including WebCentral/ Melbourne IT and SeaLink.
