The new year brings the departure and arrival of two State Division managers. In February, we said farewell to Carey Cox, manager of the Victorian Division and Graeme Burgess, manager of the ACT Division and welcomed Tony Harford and Phil Butler.
Under Cox's seven-year stewardship, the Victorian Division experienced 70 percent growth in membership and in the past year hosted a record number of programs. Burgess witnessed not only the foundation day of AICD in 1990, but also the growth of the ACT Division from 54 to 563 members. He initiated a number of corporate governance scholarship programs with government departments.
The AICD board and staff sincerely thank both for their leadership and hard work in delivering quality education and networking opportunities to our members, and for advocating our policy positions with government.
Melbourne born and bred, Tony Harford, takes the helm of the Victorian Division after 15 years' experience in marketing and customer service roles. He arrives after lengthy experience in these areas at Diners Club International, Qantas, and Service Partners - the outsourced operators of the Qantas Frequent Flyer and Qantas Club programs. A graduate of our flagship Company Directors Course, he is looking forward to utilising his customer service skills and existing networks by delivering events and programs to Victorian members.
New ACT manager, Phil Butler joins at a time of significant expansion of the organisation in the ACT with the opening of new AICD offices in the St George Centre and growing public sector interest in our courses. Canberra also plays host to our "Alchemy of Change" Conference at New Parliament House in May. With a marketing and conference management background, Butler is enthusiastic about meeting the educational and networking needs of ACT members. Before joining us he was ACT manager of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and previously held management roles at the Australian Bureau of Agriculture and Resource Economics, Reed Elsevier Australia, and The Practical Marketing Group.
