Approaching gender balance in ASX 300 NEDs

    Current

Our latest Gender Diversity Progress Report marks important milestones in the continuing drive towards gender parity on Australian listed boards.

This quarter we celebrate continued progress towards gender parity on Australia’s listed boards with women now accounting for 40 per cent of all non-executive director (NED) positions.

Women’s representation on ASX 300 boards overall continues to track well at 36 per cent in the ASX 200 and 35.5 per cent in the ASX 300 at the end of February 2023.

But a breakdown by director type reveals that 88.9 per cent of ASX 300 executive directors – those who also hold the position of CEO or other executive management post – are men.

“The rise of women NEDs demonstrates that there is no shortage of qualified women ready to take up appointments at the most senior levels of business” said Nicola Wakefield Evans AM FAICD, Chair of the 30% Club Australia. “We must continue to work with intent on coordinated and long-term strategies that provide opportunities for women to thrive at all levels of leadership.“
