A new round of scholarships for leaders with disability is being offered by the AICD and its partners. Applications close on 24 July.

Leaders with disability are encouraged to apply for a new round of governance education scholarships as part of the Disability Leadership Program, which is offering 200 full fee scholarships over the next two years.

The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) hosts the program in partnership with the Australian Network on Disability, and it is funded by the Department of Social Services.

In the first round of this initiative, 85 full-fee scholarships are being offered to undertake the Company Directors Course or the Foundations of Directorship course at the AICD.

To help maximise board career opportunities, scholarship holders will also receive a one-year AICD membership, which includes a subscription to Directorship Opportunities, which advertises board roles. The program will also work with existing directors to build disability confidence through Leader-to-Leader Conversations facilitated by the Australian Network on Disability.

AICD Managing Director and CEO, Angus Armour, said, “I’m pleased that the AICD is once again partnering with the Australian Network on Disability to deliver accessible and inclusive learning experiences for leaders with disability.

“The aim of this initiative is to get more people with disability into board positions by   building on their governance knowledge, as well as opening the door to networking opportunities.”

In January this year, the AICD and the Australian Network on Disability first partnered to provide the Directing Change Scholarship Program, which saw 22 leaders with disability undertake either the Foundations of Directorship program or the Company Directors Course at AICD.

The Disability Leadership Program is expected to run until June 2024 and will target leaders with disability over 18, in particular, women, First Nations people and culturally and linguistically diverse people.

The application process is managed by the Australian Scholarships Foundation (ASF). Applications close on 24 July this year. Register here.

The scholarships are funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services. Go to www.dss.gov.au for more information.
