AI is reshaping how all Australian organisations operate, innovate and create value.
The AICD, in partnership with the Human Technology Institute (HTI) at the University of Technology Sydney, has updated its key artificial intelligence (AI) governance resources to account for rapid AI technological change and maturing governance practices.
Since the AICD and HTI published the AI governance resources in 2024, AI tools and systems have become firmly embedded within many Australian organisations, often underpinned by significant investments. At the same time the technology is advancing at a rapid rate with agentic AI offering promise for greater automation and system integration.
AI presents profound opportunities for all Australian organisations to enhance productivity, improve decision-making and deliver innovative products and services. Yet it also introduces complex and often interconnected risks, including cyber security and data governance. The board plays a key role in governing the balance between opportunity and risk.
The AICD and HTI’s objective with these updated resources is to equip all boards with the insight needed to navigate AI with confidence, promoting innovation from AI in a responsible manner, including oversight of the human impact of AI on employees, customers and broader stakeholders.
The resources comprise:
- The Director’s Guide to AI Governance
- A SME and NFP Board Summary and Checklist
- A concise Snapshot of the publication
On 30 July 2026 we are hosting a complimentary webinar to further discuss the practical application of the resources.
