Our debaters will argue:
- ESG – The Increasing Role of Diversity
"Should boards adopt formal DEI targets or rely solely on merit-based appointments?"
As expectations around governance evolve, boards are under pressure to deliver genuine diversity while maintaining the highest standards of competence. This session brings two contrasting perspectives into sharp focus: Are formal DEI targets essential for accelerating change and strengthening organisational performance? Or do they risk undermining merit-based selection and creating unintended consequences?
- AI in the Boardroom
“Empowering Governance or Undermining Judgement?”
As AI tools become more accessible and influential in organisational decision-making, boards are divided on the role these technologies should play. Proponents argue AI offers stronger insights, faster analysis, and improved oversight. Critics caution that over-reliance may weaken human judgement, introduce new risks, and blur accountability. This debate brings both sides to the table, examining whether AI strengthens governance or whether it poses challenges boards can’t afford to ignore. Join us for a dynamic discussion designed to test assumptions and explore the future of AI in board decision making.
- Board Tenure Limits
“Refreshing Perspective or Losing Perspective?”
As conversations about board renewal intensify, tenure limits remain one of the most contested governance tools. Do they bring much-needed fresh perspectives, diversity of thought, and strategic renewal? Or do they risk losing hard-won institutional knowledge, stability, and long-term context? This debate examines both sides of the argument, exploring whether tenure limits strengthen governance or inadvertently weaken it. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with peers and colleagues and will also decide on the winning team for each debate topic.
