Many company directors are enrolled in Master of Business Administration awards in order to help them make decisions more effectively in an increasingly complex environment.

Master of Business Administration degrees teach how people and processes operate within organisations and the wider environment affecting those organisations. MBA students are encouraged to develop strong analytical skills which can be applied to organisational problems and issues and to help them anticipate and prepare for future action. Study options include full-time, part-time, evening, distance-education and on-line programs. Areas covered are general management as well as marketing, human resources, accounting, information systems, finance and many more. Some universities also devise specialist courses to meet the specific needs of particular organisations and some give advanced standing for Company Directors Course graduates. Students can enroll in a Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Master of Business Administration awards, as well as Executive MBAs. Alternative entry criteria are often available, with some institutions not requiring candidates to have completed an undergraduate degree. Student ages range from early 20s to late 60s, some enrolling early in their careers and others later on as part of their sequence of life-long learning.

To help decide which program is best for them, this year for the first time in Australia students will be able to investigate management study options at MBA Showcase2000 in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Visit one venue and meet with representatives from a wide range of institutions. Staff will be on hand to discuss their particular MBA programs and to answer questions. MBA Showcase2000 provides an opportunity for on-the-spot comparisons and contrasts to be made and for potential students to visit a one-stop shop where they can decide which program is best for them. MBA Showcases will be held at Brisbane Town Hall on Thursday, August 24, Sydney Wentworth Hotel on Tuesday, August 29, Perth Parmelia Hilton Hotel on Thursday, August 31, Adelaide Grand Hyatt Hotel on Tuesday, September 5 and Melbourne Town Hall on Thursday, September 7.
