Julie Garland McLellan is a professional director and board consultant.
Her newsletter The Director’s Dilemma is read in 39 countries around the world. The practical, case-study based style is Julie’s trademark. Her keynote speeches and training events feature interactive case studies and refreshingly pragmatic expertise. She is also a frequent contributor to international governance publications.
She is the author of five books on boards and governance, including ‘Presenting to Boards’ which is a practical manual for boardroom presenters.
Julie is a practicing company director with experience on a range of public sector, not-for-profit and commercial boards. She has chaired listed companies, and served as committee chair, independent director and leader of due diligence prior to listing. She has also served on not-for-profit, public sector and private companies.
Julie is a former councillor for the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She has written and presented a number of their courses. Her speciality is risk and strategy for directors and she tackles the topics with practical pragmatism and academic rigour.
Julie has an advanced diploma and a diploma in company directorship as well as an executive MBA, a graduate diploma in applied finance and a BSc in engineering. As an executive she has worked in engineering, construction, mining and utilities companies and was Managing Director of a Spanish-listed multinational company’s Australian subsidiary.
