Chair, Victoria Government Sustainability Fund

Freya Marsden is an experienced Chair, Chair of Risk, Audit, and Finance and Non-Executive Director with over 20 previous Board and Committee roles across a broad range of sectors.  


Freya’s current roles include Chair of the Victorian Government’s Sustainability Fund, Chair of Audit and Risk and Independent Board Director, Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (an Industry Membership based, co-regulatory product stewardship body working towards a circular economy), Independent Member Water Infrastructure NSW, and Deputy Chair and Non-Executive Director the Australian Research Council Research Hub for Integrated Energy Storage Solutions with UNSW and CSIRO.

Past and current Audit, Risk and Finance roles include VicRoads, Boroondara Council, and Committee Chair of South East Water, City West Water and the Victorian Planning Authority. Freya’s diverse executive experience includes AECOM and Victorian Government (infrastructure economist), BHP (corporate affairs), Federal Treasury and Treasurer’s Office (taxation) and Director of Policy for the Business Council of Australia.

Freya’s Non-Executive roles are supported through extensive sustainability, circular economy and climate related environmental understanding, data management, finance, risk and audit capability. An economist and sustainability specialist, Freya holds a Master of Commerce, Bachelor of Agriculture and Resource Economics including environmental science, has recently completed the Cambridge University Sustainable Finance course, the Cambridge Institute for Sustainable Leadership EY Non-executive Director Programme and is an active member of the AICD.
