Terry Agnew

Non-executive Chair, Director & Advisor

Terry Agnew is a Chair and non-executive director with extensive board and executive roles, spanning a range of industries including insurance, finance, tertiary education, infrastructure & engineering, disability employment, tourism and home care.


His most significant executive role was as Group CEO of RAC in WA ; a diversified purpose led business and advocacy organisation which serves over 1 million West Australians. Terry’s board and executive roles include a diverse range of ownership structures including mutuals, cooperatives, government, private, ASX, joint ventures and startups.

Terry is currently Chair of MDA National Insurance, and is a director of MDA National, of RAA Insurance and of HCF where he also Chairs the People, Culture and Remuneration Committee. He is a member of the Curtin University Council and was previously Chair of the Curtin Business School. He is the current Chair of the AAA Road Safety Research Programme.

Terry has held leadership roles in a number of Australian peak bodies. He is the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) WA President. Former roles have included Chair of the Business Council of Cooperatives & Mutuals (BCCM), National President of the Australian Institute of Management (AIM) and WA President of the Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA).

Terry believes that culture, brand, safety and innovation are essential to the sustainable success of organisations. He values fairness and opportunity and has been a Chair of Edge Employment Solutions (a not for profit disability employment service provider), a mentor on the AICD/Australian Network on Disability (AND) Directing Change Program and was an inaugural member of CEOs’ for Gender Equity.

Other previous roles have included Deputy Chair of Infrastructure WA, Adjunct Professor in Strategy at Curtin University, Director of the Insurance Commission of WA, Director of the Australian Automobile Association (AAA) and a Director of the West Coast Eagles.

Terry was educated in Adelaide, Perth and Boston.
