Held shortly after National Reconciliation Week, this hybrid event creates space to reflect on the state of the sector and the responsibilities of directors working across not‑for‑profit, public and listed organisations. Designed and delivered by First Nations directors, the event centres First Nations knowledge, experiences and leadership while providing a culturally informed setting for peer learning, anchored in Country, Community and self determination.
Respected First Nations directors and leaders will deliver keynote perspectives followed by a facilitated panel discussion. The conversation will explore contemporary governance challenges, emerging opportunities and the broader implications for board practice informed by lived experience and leadership at the highest levels.
Non‑Indigenous attendees, will benefit from the opportunity to learn directly from First Nations directors about governance informed by Country, Community and lived experience, and to reflect on the implications for their own roles and responsibilities in the boardroom.
The Australian Institute of Company Directors continues to strengthen the pipeline and impact of First Nations directors through nationally funded scholarship programs, Communities of Practice and the First Nations Governance Advisory Forum.
The First Nations Director Update is hosted by Westpac, reflecting a shared commitment to accessible, high quality governance conversations that inform and strengthen leadership across sectors.
