The Role of the Chair explores the position's unique leadership responsibilities, including their relationships with other board members and the CEO.
The course offers a rare opportunity to discreetly discuss leadership and governance issues – including board selection, boardroom processes and CEO succession planning – with fellow chairs and experienced directors.
This one-day course is suitable for new, experienced and aspiring chairs, deputy chairs, and committee chairs in not-for-profit and for-profit organisations.
It is recommended for directors who have completed the Company Directors Course™ and have extensive boardroom experience.
The course explores the chair’s leadership role and key governance responsibilities
Participants will walk away with:
- An appreciation of their responsibilities as a leader inside and outside the boardroom and their impact on board productivity
- An understanding of their unique role in boardroom dynamics and board succession planning
- Insights to enhance their working relationships with other board members and the CEO
- Increased confidence in managing difficult situations and crises calmly and effectively.
The Role of the Chair is delivered over one day and is led by expert facilitators with deep, real-world experience.
It includes 2 hours of pre-reading. You will gain access to your Course Materials two weeks before your advertised date.
Mode of study
The course is interactive. Participants are guided through practical case studies and group discussions and are encouraged to apply their learning to their individual circumstances.
