Susan has more than 25 years of executive management and Board director experience particularly across tiers of local and state government, mining and medical sectors.


As a governance specialist consultant/interim Governance Manager to Local Governments across Victoria, Susan has ensured Council’s meet their legislative compliance, are accountable and ensure they practice good governance across the organisation. As a previous CEO, Susan previously led two complex company restructures, negotiated with key stakeholders and established new entities. As an interim Local Government manager/Consultant, Susan has supported a range of Councils across Victoria from East Gippsland to West Wimmera and Council in between including Yarra and Casey Councils.

Susan is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) since 2001, is a graduate of the Gippsland Community Leadership Program and was a recipient of the Victorian Government Women's Community Leadership bursary enabling her to shadow Sir David Henshaw the European CEO Leadership Award winner in the UK when he was the CEO of Liverpool City Council.

Susan was elected to local government from 2005 - 2008 and won an International Fellowship to research Local Leadership in the UK attending Warwick University Local Government Leadership Program and the UK Local Government Conference where she was invited to input into the UK Councillor Commission focusing on the reform of Local Government. Susan attended the Commonwealth Local Government Forum in 2007 developing links with other countries focusing on leadership development and environment issues impacting on developing countries.

Susan currently has several Director, Chair and Independent member roles on Boards and Audit and Risk Committees including the Royal Austalasian College of Surgeons Cardiothoracic Board and the GunaiKurnai Traditional Land Owners Audit and Risk Committee.

On last count, Susan has had over 20 different careers ranging from being a Phys Ed teacher to being a CEO and Board Director. Her proudest career move is that of being a proud Grandmother “Suz” to five grandies with a very recent addition of surprise twins in August.
