With over 20 years in the public service, Tony has extensive experience in data, analytics, risk, governance, audit and assurance across GST, Superannuation and Income Tax in scale markets.
As Assistant Commissioner for Small Business at the Australian Taxation Office, Tony is responsible for the governance and oversight of the Shadow Economy measures in the ATO. Tony is also chair of the Black Economy Standing Taskforce that aims to provide a whole of government response to the Shadow Economy.
Tony is also responsible for a large national work force that delivers frontline engagement, education and support for small business clients across a range of taxation products. Tony's staff perform assurance activities that protect honest businesses and engage and positively influence those operating outside the system. The team’s aim is to lower the tolerance of not reporting income and build mainstream support for a level playing field.
