Paul Apáthy

Paul is a highly experienced practitioner specialising in restructuring, insolvency and special situations. He is the global co-chair of the firm’s Restructuring, Turnaround and Insolvency practice and leads the Australian practice.  

He has had leading roles in many of the largest and most complex restructurings and insolvencies in the Australian market over the last decade, advising companies, creditors, directors, investors and insolvency practitioners. Including advising GenesisCare on its restructuring and Chapter 11 bankruptcy filings; and Grant Thornton as liquidators for the Porter Davis Homes Group.

One of the leading practitioners in the Australian market, Paul is a director of the Turnaround Management Association of Australia, a fellow in INSOL International, and a member of the editorial boards of Insolvency Law Bulletin and Global Restructuring Review. 

Paul practised in London for a number of years before joining Herbert Smith Freehills in 2012.
