Denis Flett PSM FAICD

Director, Goulburn Valley Water

Denis is a Director of Goulburn Valley Water and is in his fiftieth year of working in the water sector. His experience spans engineering, management, leadership, governance, and consulting.


He was the foundation Chief Executive of Goulburn-Murray Water, a Victorian Commissioner on the Murray-Darling Basin Commission, Deputy Chair of North East Water, and the foundation Chairperson of the Victorian Environmental Water Holder. He was also a consultant with Sinclair Knight Merz, and a principal of DG Consulting. He has been a participant in many lasting reforms, and in June 2021 he received a Public Service Medal for outstanding service to water management in Victoria. He is a retired Fellow of the AICD and of the IEAust.

Denis is a resident of the Goulburn Broken catchment and lives in Tatura, in his 25th home. His interests include hiking, travel, gardening, wine, and sport. He has had a long involvement in football as a player, coach, and administrator, including as President of the Tatura Football Netball Club. He is married to Claire, and they have three adult children and one grandson.
