David Evans FAICD

David has over 30 years’ senior banking and finance experience across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. His executive positions with Westpac included Chief Manager Fiji Islands, Chief Credit Officer Western Australia and Senior Manager Indigenous Banking, Western Australia. 


David was a director at KPMG in the financial risk advisory practice for two years in Perth and was the president of the Fiji Australia Business Council prior to joining KPMG. He has developed a comprehensive understanding of banking services and operations, particularly in strategic leadership, financial analysis, sales management, business development, treasury processes, risk management and credit processes.

David has been active in the not-for-profit sector for a number of years including as president and board director for the National Heart Foundation WA Division, director of Transparency International Fiji, trustee of the Murdoch University Veterinary Trust and executive member of the Australian Institute of International Affairs. He is currently a non-executive director on the board of Outback Stores Pty Ltd (a Commonwealth Government owned entity) and an independent director of Vision Investments Ltd (one of the largest publicly listed companies on the South Pacific Stock Exchange). David was also an independent member of the Queensland Police audit & risk committee and a non-executive director of Aboriginal Hostels Ltd.

As a management consultant, David is an accredited facilitator for the Australian Institute of Company Directors, delivering strategy, risk, finance and governance training programs for board directors as well as indigenous governance training. David has facilitated with the Australian Institute of Company Directors since 2008 covering the Company Directors Course and Foundations of Directorship in Australia and internationally across Asia, the Pacific and Middle East. He also facilitates Applied Risk Governance and The Role of the Chair short courses as well as the Indigenous Governance Programs throughout Australia.

In 2003, David was awarded a Centenary Medal by the Australian Government for his services to health as President of the National Heart Foundation, Western Australia.
