Cheryl Chan

Director, Remotely Legal

Cheryl Chan has over 20 years’ experience as a lawyer and investigator, specialising in employment and discrimination law, and has worked across a number of different industries such as energy and resources, oil and gas, retail, financial services, health, education, public sector and for purpose entities. Cheryl runs Remotely Legal, a boutique employment law and investigations business. 


Cheryl holds a number of board roles, including as a Board Member for Health Support Services, Cancer Council of Western Australia and as a WA Division Council member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.  She has previously been Chair and a director of the BP Kwinana Refinery board, as well as other entities in the areas of women’s economic empowerment, education and employment.

In 2019 Cheryl was named Woman Lawyer of the Year by the Women Lawyers of Western Australia for her contribution to the legal profession and to the community.

In 2020 Cheryl was named Senior Lawyer of the Year by the Asian Australian Lawyers Association which recognises individuals who demonstrate leadership, creativity and innovation and who have made significant contributions to the progress of cultural inclusion and diversity.

She was also named in Doyles’ Legal Guide as one of Australia’s Leading Employment and Safety in-house lawyers in both 2020 and 2021.
